It’s true that concentrating on one skill makes quality work more possible, but I’ve recently realized that we can mix and match our skills to provide a more attractive package for prospective clients. For example, if you’re good at website design and know a little search engine optimization, you can combine these abilities for maximum […]

Just spreading the word about PayPal folks:
I’d had the option to accept credit card payments in PayPal, which didn’t bother me at the time as the transaction was quick and I saw the funds instantly. However, what I didn’t know, and I found out the hard way was that I really wasn’t protected by PayPal […]

There’s no problem with fun and games. But being funny can have its consequences for a freelancer’s career and reputation. Snopes does a great job of busting urban myths, especially those that have found life on the Internet. It even explains why some of these “myths” are actually true.
Such is the case of the Risque […]

It’s easy to feel like a commodity, with many clients interested in interacting with you only for your work. It’s easy to think that they’d rather buy your creativity and talent in easy-to-manage packaging.
Personally, in times like these, I think it’s our passion for the craft that keeps us going, and makes it easier to […]

The resource I’ll soon link to may be mostly applicable only to American-based freelancers, but it’s still a great place to start looking for organizations that allow you to expand your network.
Visit the article titled 50 Professional Networks for Freelancers and you’ll see what I mean. Socializing with people from the same field allows freelancers […]

By communicating concisely, you:
Spend less time discussing what to do and more time doing it
Create less confusion if words are chosen correctly
Become effective at persuasion, since you express more with less
Maximize the Internet, providing more information through pictures and outbound links
Give the impression that all your communications are worthy of attention

b5media recently added some mobile blogging functionality to Contract Worker, so I’m trying my hand by writing this post on a cellphone.
It helps that I’m quite the prolific texter, since it lets me maintain a decent pace writing on a numeric keypad. Still, it’s quite tiring. Maybe if I used one of those phones […]
