5 Ways to Love

by Rico on February 14th, 2008

You had to see it coming—it’s Valentine’s Day and I’m writing about love.

But there’s a reason behind the madness cheesiness. Love is a great thing, because it can actually help you with your freelance career. I kid you not.

Love What You Do. I’ve covered this countless times: You cannot succeed at what you do unless you truly love it. Love it, live it, be it.

Love Yourself. A big part of convincing other people that you’re worth their time and money is confidence. Others will only believe in you only if you believe in yourself. Don’t go overboard though!

Love Others. By getting to know other people, we gain new contacts who can help us out (and vice versa) on future projects.

Love What Others Do. There’s a lot we can gain from loving the work of others. By studying these we learn new things. By appreciating these, we expand beyond our limited world view and discover new perspectives we can integrate into our approach.

Love What You Can Do For Love. We all can tap our talents and creativity to say I love you to a loved one in a new way. As someone versed in ActionScript, I once made a Flash photo album card for my mom.

So, fellow freelancers, how do you love?
