Can Anyone Win $5000 by Writing?
Associated Content recently announced a $5000 writing contest. Check it out here.
This is an obvious ploy by the website to get more people to sign up for an account. “Associated Content is a platform that enables everyone to publish their content in any format on any topic and then distributes that content to engaged audiences through its website and content partners. Those who contribute to Associated Content’s ad-supported collection of original text, video, audio and images gain exposure and often earn cash for their participation.”
One more thing: why isn’t this contest open to anyone around the world? Isn’t this a contest about “quality: originality, clarity, enterprise, usefulness, discoverability and overall readability”, instead of nationality?

This is entirely normal in these competitions they only allow US writers for some reason. Others have frustratingly done the same, which I why I havent applied.

I almost applied for this contest, so you can imagine my frustration when I found out it was only open to mainly US residents.

Why dont they have 2nd and 3rd prizes as well? Im not particpating because competiton is too fierce. I would be up against seasoned writers. Im not a bad writer but dont call myself professional. I agree . It is just a plan to get more sign-ups. all the free content means more clicks and profits for them.
