Earning From Old Work
Connie recently wrote a useful post on maximizing your work. In it she shows how a freelance writer can reslant, rewrite, and resell an article.
I believe that we can take this active approach to the next level, and make it passive. To fully maximize our previous work, we should come up with methods that allow us to earn from old projects without any work on our part. It could be as direct as setting up a website that manages to attract paying advertisers on a consistent basis, or less immediate as creating an effective portfolio page that attracts inquiries from prospective clients.
The point is that the work of freelancers should, aside from many other things, be geared towards increasing their earning power. Building “passive revenue streams” from previous work provides the breathing room needed to formulate new, and ultimately income-increasing, ideas.
So, fellow freelancers, how are you earning from previously accomplished work?

At the very least, having past posts up on a blog functions in this way. This, on top of a portfolio of freelance work, can help attract new work and give life to old material.

You’re absolutely right Evan! Many SEO experts I know also agree that the older a website is, the more authority it carries on at least Google.
