Getting Corporate Logos the Easy Way

Websites like brandsoftheworld.com will come in handy for freelancers who find themselves working for a big company.

If you need to finish that project (examples that come to mind are advertisements, stationery redesigns, or corporate documents) but the company’s marketing division is too busy to answer your requests for corporate collaterals, it’s time to take matters into your own hands.

I had almost finished a poster featuring product deals available only to SM employees. All that was missing was the SM logo itself. SM Prime Holdings is the largest Philippine mall operator, a Filipino version of WalMart if you will. They’ve built the world’s third largest mall, yet they surprisingly have little presence on the Internet; it was hard to find a suitable logo to download. Since I had to submit the project by the end of the day, Í couldn’t wait for my SM contact to process my request.

Luckily, Google Image Search led me to brandsoftheworld.com. I found the SM logo there. As an added bonus, it was in .EPS format, meaning the logo would retain its quality no matter how big I blew it up.

There are other sites that host high-resolution company logos. Feel free to also check out LaLogotheque.com. Remember public use of a logo requires the company’s permission. And to all marketing or company heads out there, consider placing your company logo on one of these sites. So instead sending a logo file to your contract worker (which may be too big to be sent via e-mail anyway), you can just give him the URL of your logo’s online location.
