Freelance Myth #7: Working at Home Means You Can Sleep in All the Time
It can be hard to work at home, when you consider the numerous distractions that await you. And it doesn’t help if you subscribe to the freelance myth that it’s ok to slack off when you enjoy the two minute commute. It’s still not ok to sleep in all the time, even if your bed is just a few steps away from your workplace.
This is pretty much the opposite extreme of Freelance Myth #6. Working at home doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re a slacker who does practically nothing all day. But if you’re not careful, you may end up validating the skepticism people have about freelancing.
Successfully working at home ironically requires the same dedication, passion, and responsibility required when working in the office. This means that home-based freelancers can learn a lot from the experience of corporate workers. Check out my seminal Avoiding the Temptations of Home series for more info.

Very funny! (And sad). I’ve been freelancing for 7 years and think that working home is a lot harder than in an office. But the benefits are huge if you enjoy your work.

The benefits are always huge if you enjoy your work. :) But working at home is always better because of the freedom. It carries a lot challenges, to be sure, but nothing beats being in effective control of your own time!
