Gliffy: A Free Charts, Diagrams and Floor Plans Creator
The benefits of Gliffy are that it’s free, runs on virtually any computer, and is a powerful Flash-based application. The chart, diagram, and floor plan creator features pre-built visual components which you can drag-and-drop to quickly compile an effective visual. It has proven pretty useful when I recently dabbled briefly in interface design. More so when it allowed me to download the finished product and send it to a client. On a personal note, Gliffy has also helped me map out the flow of a website I recently worked on. Its creators have a comprehensive video that details the service’s value proposition.
Unfortunately, like any other web-based app, the need for connectivity is Gliffy’s weakness. Without access to the Internet, it would impossible to run Gliffy, much less get any work done with it. On the other hand, it is free, and I can personally attest to its usefulness for contract workers and freelancers who need to immediately create visuals for their projects. Have any of you tried out Gliffy?

Thanks for the review and compliments. We appreciate the mention and value your balanced perspective on the pros/cons. We chose webbased for many reasons including the fact that changes to Gliffy just ‘happen’ rather than customers having to download updates, etc.
Thanks again for the review, we look forward to hearing what others say about Gliffy–especially feedback about changes you’d like to see. Best,
Debi K
