Hack Your Way to Faster Surfing
If you do a lot of work online, you’ll appreciate this great find, courtesy of Tris Hussey over at Pimp Your Work. Here’s a tweak to load pages faster on Firefox:
- Obviously, launch Firefox if it isn’t open yet.
- Type about:config in the address bar.
- Type network in box beside Filter:
- Double click network.http.pipelining to set it to true.
- Double click pipelining.maxrequests and type in 10.
- Restart Firefox.
That’s it! And it really does work. Like Tris says, allowing your browser “to make more concurrent connections to a site” makes for faster surfing. Feeling left out IE users? Check out Tris’ post for more info.

Thanks for the link Rico! The IE tweak is one that I’m kinda hesistant to use, just because I’m really loathe to edit my registry unless I really, really have to.
BTW, the plugin FasterFox will make the tweaks for you (I finally remembered!).

Yeah, I’ve been traumatized by my many registry editing errors.
So that’s the name of the mysterious plug-in! ;) Thanks for the heads-up.

Ah, yet another Firefox fanatic joins the group. Would you know how 2.0 compares to the original? Haven’t gotten around to downloading it. :)
