Helping Other Freelancers Succeed
Even veteran freelancers will experience times when it’s hard to find work. This isn’t necessarily because they’re skills are no longer in demand. Perhaps the circumstances are just not favorable.
But, there’s an easy way to make some money when business is slow—and you also get to help out other contract workers.
It’s possible to serve as a matchmaker of sorts, connecting clients and fellow freelancers. Say a friend is looking for a coder to make his online dream a reality. And you happen to know someone who fits the bill perfectly…
A commission charged for the referral won’t sound unreasonable, because nothing would’ve happened if you didn’t make the connection. You’ll gain a lot of good karma, and the wonderful feeling that comes from the assist. It may happen tomorrow or next year, but the people you help out will return the favor.
This also helps freelancing in general gain more credibility. For as you highlight the professionalism and skill of other freelancers, more and more clients will take advantage of talent pool.
And the best thing is, you can do this even when your swamped with work. Instead of refusing a project outright, you can refer the client to someone else. You still provide a service, give a friend some work, and make a little money in the process.
