How Blogging Can Help Your Freelancing Career, Part 2

Let’s recap how blogging can help your freelancing career:
- Portfolio Showcase. Put your works online and prospective clients can see what you can do.
- Writing Practice. Practice makes perfect, and publishing blog posts on a regular basis will do the same for your writing.
- Easy Communication. Provide a way for people to easily contact you without opening your email to those damn spambots.
To be honest, I only scratched the surface on that post, so let me add three more:
- Low-cost maintenance requirements. I spent a grand total of Php 1,736.00 ($35) for my personal blog’s first year of domain and hosting. I’ve made that many times over with the business my blog gave me.
- Search-engine friendliness. They love the wealth of information you create as you write regularly. In other words, a blog has a better chance of ranking higher in Google than your “typical” website.
In an increasingly online world, maintaining a website is becoming a necessity for freelancers. The increased visibility allowed by a blog gives you opportunities that are normally unavailable in the offline world. And who knows? Helping others understand the world of blogging may prove to be lucrative freelance career. ;)
