Is the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC the Perfect Laptop for Eternally-Mobile Freelancers?
Yesterday, I got to try out the HP 2133. As I’ve said, the mini-note represents “an impressive combination of portability, functionality, and most importantly, affordability.” Those are three reasons why I think this laptop can work for many freelancers. It’s portable enough to fit in the smallest of bags, functionally capable of running demanding programs like Photoshop (no kidding!), and fits easily into any budget due to its affordability (at least the Linux version; the Windows Vista variant looks to be more pricey).
So even if I haven’t used the HP 2133 for a significant amount of time, I’m confident that it’s the perfect tool for freelancers who are always out on the field. Examples that come to mind are writers, journalists, and photographers who need to review their photos as download it from the camera. The Mini-Note’s 8.9″ screen is plenty big enough to get basic tasks—and then some—done. There’s also WiFi and Bluetooth available, two features standard on laptops. All in a package that can fit into my girlfriend’s lady bag.
On the other hand, it’s quite possible that the HP 2133 could tie freelancers even more to their work. And at the same time, be even more hurtful to productivity than a “normal” laptop. I can already imagine procrastinating work since I’ll be able to accomplish practically anywhere with this baby. What do you think?
