It’s Really Not the Tools, But Who Uses Them

…Today, the brothers are considered one of the best, youngest and brightest that Philippine design has to offer - not a bad place to be for a pair of artists with humble beginnings in Naga, Bicol. “We began right after graduation, back in 2004″, 26 year old Randall says. “For our equipment, we had a one megapixel Sony Cybershot, and six light bulbs we’d screwed into a wooden plank for lighting. When our client saw us setting up, he said ‘Are you guys serious?’”, he laughs. [emphasis ours]
Yet today, these two can afford to charge nearly $2000 per engagement shoot, a popular pre-nuptial ritual in the Philippines. Yep, their awesome photography is obviously driven by the best equipment available, but it took their hard work, dedication and passion to bring mangoRED where it is now. The studio’s photography really does “mix whimsy with drama with digital photography and illustration, along with an ever so slightly skewed sense of humor.”

Wow, that is a great portrait of the couple and I love the post processing. I think you can really see why some photographers can charge more.
