Mac Shortcuts That Boost Your Productivity

No matter what the Apple fanboys say, one thing I like about Windows is its breadth of keyboard shortcuts compared to Mac OS X, which still requires relatively more mouse movement. But there are still lots of useful keyboard shortcuts for a Mac, key combinations that boost your productivity. Why waste time moving your mouse pointer towards a button or menu option, when the right key presses get the job done almost instantly?
Check out Dan Rodney’s Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts page. It has the information you need to quickly do tasks such as change how you’re viewing your files, to easily saving what’s on your screen as an image file. There’s even a shortcut that—gasp—lets you close non-responsive applications. Yes, even Macs screw from time to time, something that isn’t obvious thanks to Steve Jobs’s reality distortion field.
Whatever operating system you use, keyboard shortcuts will help you get things done faster. My favorites will always be Ctrl+Shift+Left and Ctrl+Shift+Right. They let you quickly select words in whatever programs you use in Windows. What are your favorite productivity-oriented keyboard shortcuts?
