Microsoft Tries its Hand at Job Sites
Have you heard about Task Market? It’s Microsoft’s entrance into the online job site market, representing a classic formula found on some of the other job sites I’ve written about: client posts a job, a freelancer with the right skill and desire take it on.
What’s in it for Microsoft, you ask? I’m not really sure. The about page insists that the website focuses “on tasks accomplished using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access”. Yet Task Market seems to be able to support any kind of job, so long as the final project can be submitted in digital format. It’s support for PayPal, which is available in more countries than ever, is a great boon for international freelancers as well.
In any case, feel free to visit Task Market at taskmarket.com. If you’ve already had the good fortune of finding and accomplishing a job through the website, do let us know. Here’s to hoping that Task Market remains free-to-use once the “Tech Preview” is over, but it’s reasonable to expect that Microsoft would want a return on its investment some way.
