One Minute Management And The 80-20 Goal-Setting Rule Applied to Freelancers
You may have encountered the 80-20 rule on effective goal-setting, which can be summarized to “80% of the important results comes from 20% of the goals set”, for crucial last-minute projects. Of course, the one minute management is applied to the 20%, which roughly covers around 3-4 goal statements.
What is One Minute Management? It is a goal and performance expectations report listed down in 250 words or can be read and understood in under a minute. This is one rule that can be applied to freelancers.
Since we work on our own time and pace, the need to organize is vital to the completion of our work especially when it’s on a deadline. There will be occasions wherein we have to crunch our work into available time and resources. With this particular goal management in place, results are quantifiable or measureable. You can even check on timely progress with ease.
This aids in increasing productivity when everyone knows what is expected at the onset of the project, don’t you agree? It’s a brilliant way to optimize our time — it is, after all, one of the most important resources for a freelancer.
