Quick Idea-Generation Techniques, #8
The general idea driving my quick idea-generation techniques is that you should be an idea-grabber of sorts. You should be open to ideas and concepts as they hit you, and be able to quickly store these for future use.
Right now I’m in Singapore, and one of the most important things on my packing list is my trusty compact point-and-shoot. Not only because I’m in the city-state to cover a press launch, mind you. The camera will help me bring home ideas I can use for upcoming projects. All I have to do is snap photos and the moments will be captured for posterity.
Nothing brings new perspectives—and thus ideas and concepts—like a trip to a foreign place. It’s easier to see new things among unfamiliar surroundings, and it’s easy to integrate these new experiences into your creative mind.
Even if you’re traveling for free, you will no doubt spend to see the sights, try out the food and get to know the people. Why not make sure your spending has a long-term benefit, in the form of new ideas for your projects?
