Quickly Count the Number of Words in Your Article

by Rico on May 19th, 2008

Need to quickly count how many words you’ve written and your word processor can’t do it? Copy your text and visit:

http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/countwords.shtml

Once the page loads, paste your text on the box and click on the Calculate Words button. The number of words will then appear on the small box to the right of the button. Freelancers of any creative field will find themselves writing something that needs to be limited to a certain number of words. It could be an article, a caption for a picture, or a description of a design. The fact remains that editors who have to keep the number of words down for layout and legibility words will insist that you use X amount of words.

Thanks for this. I have several clients that require a specific word count. Usually I use Word’s word count feature, but several projects require me to use other software. For those cases this link will be very useful. (I’d been cutting and pasting the article into Word just to use the word count feature.)

Oh yeah, thanks to reminding me that I’d also start Word just to paste text and count it. Depending on your net connection, visiting the Javascript Word Counter could be a lot faster.
