Sharing Color Schemes the Quick and Easy Way
Sometimes, before a freelancer executes a design project, the client wants to see the color scheme he’ll use. And this is where a scheme swatch comes in handy. A scheme swatch is a small square image containing all the colors in the scheme lined up side-by-side. Here’s an example of a 3-color scheme swatch:

Placing the colors side-by-side lets a client see how the colors will interact with each other, and make any necessary suggestions. Swatch schemes can be as small as 150×150, and when saved in .GIF or .PNG format, take up less than one kilobyte. So it’s a simple matter of quickly putting the colors together in your favorite app, saving it, and sending it to the client through email or even IM. But there’s an even easier method.
Colour Lovers’ Palette database makes it possible to create color schemes (of up to five colors) and save them online. You don’t even need Paint to do so!
As you select one of the five squares that represent each color in the palette, a user-friendly color picker appears, letting you select a color scientifically (through setting specific RGB values) or intuitively (by dragging the cursor on the color grid). Check out the screenshot below (click on the thumbnail to see a full-size version):
Throughout the entire process, the hexadecimal equivalents of the colors you pick are always clearly visible, so you can easily apply them later on.
To let your client look at your new color scheme, just send them the URL of the palette you created. And the best part is, the scheme stays online for easy future reference.
