The Benefit of a Singular Online Identity
If you’re involved in many online projects, you might want to invest in an online portal.
An online portal is a simple, no-frills website that lists links to the different projects you have on the Internet, complete with a short description. You can add whatever you like, but contact info availability and legibility are a must. Suggested add-ons are a brief article on who you are and what you do, and a portfolio page.
What are the benefits of an online portal? It makes answering all those “What’s your website?” questions so much easier to answer. A portal does all the dirty work, saving you from the trouble of mentioning each of your websites and what they do over and over again. It keeps your business card neat, as you only have to print out one item under the “website” section.
Moreover, a portal allows a consistent online identity. You may be a prolific freelancer, who can write, code, design, and even make good coffee. But without one website that ties all that together and presents them as the different parts of your varied personality, some people will continue being confused about who you are and what you do.
On a related, somewhat self-serving note, rico.mossesgeld.com is now up. If you have the time, please check it out and let me know what you think. :)

Great Idea! I see you have used google apps for your domain, so you own all the @mossesgeld.com emails too! great idea..
Don’t you need more stuff there? for instance a watered down resume (not too much for ID thieves)
Links to your online IDs - MySpace / Facebook / LinkedIn etc?
A pic even?

[…] mention the creator. Why do this for the coming holiday season? You can even place your name or website on the back (just make it small) to make sure people will know where the cool t-shirt came […]

Ha ha jez, you’ve just outlined what I’m planning to add! Bit by bit, slowly but surely as I learn proper CSS and markup. :)
In retrospect, I should’ve announced rico.mossesgeld.com once the portfolio/resume page was up. :P
