The Irony of Making Windows Faster
Adam Pash breaks the Gawker Media mold by writing over 100 words about nLite, a special installation package that strips the fluff away from Windows and leaves the useful stuff. Plus, he writes about two other solutions too, like Game XP, an app that wants to turn your computer into a gaming machine.
Unfortunately, getting nLite and company to work takes a bit of virtual elbow grease, and some patience to read through the instructions. Failing that, we can always get that techie-friend who can zip through boring step-by-steps. But that still means finding something else to do while the computer goes through its automated installation magic. Yep, we also thought its pretty ironic that it takes time to make Windows save time, and that making it more efficiently businesslike means adapting it for games. (lifehacker.com)
