When a Freelancer Wants to Give Up
There are so many freelance translators online, enough to fill up a forum apparently. Of particular interest is the story of Raul D. Castillo. He started a thread by complaining about a “staggeringly stuffed” market for Spanish translators, which he cited as a cause for not being able to get any freelance translation gigs. So he announced his intent to give up.
That’s when his fellow members rushed in. Some suggested that Mr. Castillo needed to be more active in building his network, and others a change in the way he marketed his skills. A few even begged him to simply stay the course and persist.
Eventually, Raul decided to give freelancing one more shot—as the thread slowly devolves into an argument on a barely related point (translatorscafe.com).
