When an Ego Boost is Genuinely Inspirational
My girlfriend and I were walking around the mall, when we saw it: an iPod banner made by yours truly supported near a wall.
Whenever I see my output in public, or a credit line thanking me for my work, I always get an ego boost (”I made that!”). But this isn’t all about self-love. It’s also about seeing your efforts meaning something. Inspiration to continue what you’re doing in other words.
On bad days, when it doesn’t look like I’ll finish everything before the deadline, it’s so easy to drop everything, travel to a nice beach, and forget about all my commitments. But every time I see my output in a magazine, the web, or a public place, I remember that what I do counts, at least for certain people.
And even that is enough to convince me that giving up would be a great waste, because I’m not maximizing my capabilities.
