Why AideRSS Can Help Freelancers Connect With an Audience
Tris recently featured a great tool for any blogger—including freelancers looking to build an authoritative profile through blogging. It’s called AideRSS, and I think it’s a great way to help freelancers stay relevant online.
That’s because AideRSS attempts to rank the posts (from a blog’s RSS feed) according to how much they engage readers. By looking at the post’s performance in terms of comments, deli.cio.us bookmarks, diggs, results in Google Blog Search (or “conversations”), and tweets, AideRSS tries to indicate just how much online activity a post has generated.
AideRSS can help bloggers by providing a clear picture of which posts are more successful in connecting with readers. In a certain sense, it provides a roadmap for engaging content.
Tris asked “Is this just, ‘meh nice to know’ data or ‘holy smokes how did I live without this’ data?” I believe the correct answer is somewhere in between. While it’s good to cater to your audience, pandering to them—at a cost of losing your online identity—isn’t.
