Contract Worker - Freelancing Experiences

Why Freelancers Would Want a Mac

As a freelance designer, I know how to create stuff to advertise my services. Like print ads, websites, movies, and even Flash animations. All thanks to my course. But what if you’re a contract worker who doesn’t have the skills necessary for design?

A free online presentation on Apple’s website shows why a Mac can help you in this area. Every new Mac comes pre-installed with iLife, an application suite that makes it easy to create things like movies, podcasts, websites, and even DVDs. And for $79, you get iWork, a two-program package that makes layouting and presenting relatively straightforward.

You do have to buy a Mac to get these things (the new Mac Mini goes for $599). And as a disclaimer, I do some work for a local company that distributes these computers. But both iLife and iWork represent easy and inexpensive ways to get your message across creatively. Apple hired professionals to create templates you can easily tweak, so most of the creative work is already done for you.

Of course, if you’re a Mac user, you already know what I’m talking about.
