Why I Spent My Money on the Dell XPS M1330
Consider this my (somewhat) unreserved recommendation of Dell’s XPS M1330. I signed up for a 12-month installment plan for this notebook, for the following reasons:
Portability. My previous laptop, which had a 15.4″ display, was a joy to use thanks to the big screen. Unfortunately, bringing it around with me was another story. The XPS M1330 is much lighter, and much smaller. It may have a smaller display, but it’s a limitation I’m willing to sacrifice for the sake of portability. That’s what walking around with a 10 pound laptop does to you!
Power. My XPS M1330 is very powerful. In technical terms, a 2.4 Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a video card of 128MB is nothing to sniff at. Add in a 250GB hard disk, and I literally have lots of space to work with. I currently have a laptop that can do practically anything, including intensive applications like editing videos.
Affordability. Though my new laptop is much more powerful than my old one, it’s actually cheaper. Dell’s discounts are pretty arbitrary, but websites like deals2buy.com can help you get that powerful laptop at a really low price.
I’m sure not all of you will agree with this purchase. After all, Dell’s reputation for customer service isn’t exactly spectacular, and I’m sure some of you may have bad experiences with their laptops. But I’m confident that, circumstances permitting, my new workstation will last me for at least two years. That alone makes my purchase very much worth it.
The XPS M1330 gives me the versatility to work as a freelance writer and designer. In fact, I think it’s too powerful for my needs, but in the world of computing, I believe that you can never have enough power. In any case, less powerful versions of this baby are even cheaper, so take a look at dell.com and see what you can find.
What laptop do you use, if any? Would it be a great tool for freelancers?
