Why You Should be a Freelancer
![]()
More and more people around the world are becoming freelancers because of these benefits:
You have greater control over your work. You decide when to work, which projects to take, and where to accomplish them.
You can actually make more money. Especially if you’re a third-world resident working for first-world clients. Usually, in the corporate world, it doesn’t matter how many projects you’re asked to do; come payday, your salary will still be the same. A freelancer is paid by project, so if he accomplishes more, he gets paid more.
You can choose who to work for. It’s become a stereotype that the boss is a slug who wants to take advantage of you at every opportunity. As a freelancer, you’ll be able to pick your clients, and have a better chance of avoiding unreasonable ones.
You get more opportunities. Thanks to the Internet, you can market your skills to a wider audience, and not be limited by what your company offers you.
You are saved from the daily commute. If you work at home, that is. And working at home means you don’t have to spend for fuel or transit fares, and you won’t have to buy lunch from that expensive eatery.
These advantages sound very appealing indeed. But before you decide to take that big step and try to make a living off freelancing, watch out for the next post: Why you shouldn’t be a freelancer.
